I could agree more about the laziness of the producers/writers… I mean, it’s okay to have some mistery, but there are some things that remained unanswered for too long. I think that they were going to explain those things in the original season two plot… Anyway, we all know what happened there, so, whatever…
As for what Sylar does with the brains: I’m not sure, but he certainly doesn’t eat them… Remember this dialogue:
-Are you going to eat my brain?
-Eat it? Claire, that’s disgusting!
lol! Do you remember, right? Well… So I guess he doesn’t eat the brains. IMO he just hold the part that he needs and that’s enough to aquire the new ability.

Actually your guess was right. Noah confirmed it in the last episode, when congrats Danko for using a metalic object, because last time Claire used a piece of glass, and with the explosion, that glass metled. Congratulations!

I just watched the latest episode, so at least THAT question has been answered now (about the glass melting in the fire). To be honest, it was one of the plausible theories put forward at the beginning of Fugitives, with the alternative theory being that somebody might have removed the shard… but my point at the time of my previous comment was that it looked as if they weren’t going to reveal what happened. Just a case of me speaking too soon really!

As far as I know, it has been confirmed that Sylar just examines a specific part of the brain, and his IA enables him to understand how it works in relation to the ability, or something along those lines. While it must be noted that he never actually DENIES eating the brain, we all witnessed how he acquired Claire’s power – and he didn’t ingest any grey matter – so it’s pretty safe to assume that this is how he has always acquired abilities, cannibalism not included lol!
What I was saying though, is that this was one of the better ‘mysteries’ in the series… they dragged it out for two whole seasons, without it feeling like they were dragging it out.Whereas with other ’so-called-mysteries’ (lets just call them ‘baffling questions’ for now, shall we?) like Nathan resurrecting, etc., they seem to have just drunk from the punch-bowl of Convenience, rather than the shot-glass of Genius lol!

I agree, the way Sylar gets abilities by theft is one of the biggest (or the biggest) baffling questions in the show. We have theories, but nothing certain. However, I think that they are keeping that unanswered for a reason, I mean, I don’t think they’re going to let that in the mistery til the end of the series…
Another baffling topic to talk about is the Vault showed at the end of season two.
The Vault is located three floors beneath Primatech, maybe near Level 5.
Yes, the Primatech facility was destroyed by Meredith’s fire, but were the floors beneath?
The Vault is a huge baffling place, but more baffling are the objects contained in it. As far as we know, inside the Vault we have a:
-Brain
-Trojan Horse (in miniature)
-Golden Key
-Pyramid (grey and miniature)
-Kris (similar to St. Joan’s)
-Strain 138 of the Shanti Virus
-Group of three playing cards (Queens of Diamonds, Spades and Hearts)
-Empty Stand
The only thing we know for certain which is its use is the Strain 138 of the Shanti Virus, but then, the other 6 elements are really baffling. My theories are:
-Pyramid: Is an original pyramid once located in Egypt or Machu Pichu, which contains something really important inside it. This pyramid may have been resized to a miniature with an ability to resize matter.
-Trojan Horse: It could be the original Trojan Horse, which now contains something really important inside it. This object may have been resized to a miniature with an ability to resize matter.
-Brain: Is the brain of someone who had a very powerful and important ability. Maybe it holds the ability to resize matter, which could be used for resizing the Pyramid and/or the Trojan Horse back to their original measures.
-Empty Stand: It could hold an invisible object.
-Kris: This dagger could be really useful if it was in Monica’s hands. Maybe she could become much more powerfull if having this object. Maybe that’s the reason why Bob wanted to take away Monica’s ability. The dagger is identical to the one holded by St. Joan in the cover of 9thWonders! about St. Joan. Monica has been seen dressed up and very looked like St. Joan. It is almost obvious that St. Joan and Monica Dawson are the same person, and that St Joan’s dagger and the kris in the vault are the same object.
-Golden Key: This key opens the most important door inside the Pyramid. Adam was reaching for the key when Hiro stopped him, so there’s another baffling question: Why would Adam wanted that key? Did he knew what that key opens?
-Playing Card Queens: Each card could represent each of the female founders of the Company. Yes, there are four women among the founders, but remeber that in a deck of cards, there are also four Queens. Victoria Pratt abandoned the group of the founders and separated from them after she knew what the Shanti Virus was capable of, so, she may be the missing Queen, and the other three represent Angela Petrelli, Paula Gramble and Susan Amman. The missing Queen is the one in clubs suit. The clubs suit represents war and conflict, and Victoria Pratt can be related to wars and conflicts due to the virus.

When I was posting my recent comment about mysteries/ baffling questions, I WAS tempted to mention the Vault itself, and some of those objects! But it would have been a long post (thanks for saving me the trouble LOL!), and besides, you’ve brought up some things I wasn’t fully aware of. Plus, your theories on some of those items are very well thought out, I must say.
I knew about the whole dagger and Monica/ St. Joan thing, so I agree on that… I was also aware of the Virus (of course), brain, golden key, playing cards… and I THINK I noticed the empty stand (I think I assumed that it was where the vial of Virus used to be housed, but I can’t really remember tbh). The pyramid(s) kinda rings a bell, but again I can’t say for definite. Can’t say I knew about a Trojan Horse, but there are a helluva lotta [unusual] objects to remember!
But I gotta say I’m impressed at the way you connected those objects, especially the Pyramids, Trojan Horse (both miniaturised) and the Brain (possibly belonging to the character that minaturised them)! It makes sense, having the interrelated objects all together, especially as not just anybody would be able to use the brain to utilise the other two objects (but saying that, we all know who might be able to analyse that brain and take the power, don’t we? Dropped plotline? Or a story as yet untold… for now?) And to throw in the Key in that way… hmmm, interesting!
BTW, I’m glad you mentioned Machu Pichu… (I won’t lie, I didn’t know wtf it was, lol! But it sounded Incan to me… apart from the Egyptian civilisation, theirs is the second that comes to my mind when it comes to pyramids. A quick glance on Wikipedia and there it was… Incan!) But the reason I’m glad, is coz it implicates the Mayan Prophecies (I’m sure you know something about this… End Of The World stuff – like most prophecies, it seems), and I did find it a bit of a ‘coincidence’ that a character called MAYA was introduced in the exact same season, with a plague-like ability. And since we know how important the roles of Maya (and Alej…) were originally intended to be… I think there’s def a deeper story going on there. Let me know your opinion!
Empty stand = Invisible object… that’s a good one! If so, it could be some type of cloaking device? (Wasn’t the Aztec god Quetzacoatl – spelling? – supposed to be extraterrestrial in origin or something?) I like the reasoning behind the cards too… and all the objects do have a common theme – WAR (in some sense, or more specifically plague in the case of the Virus)… let’s just say that the common theme is The Apocalypse/ End Of The World. But, in classic debating style, I have to challenge your theory! Because, if you’re correct about all the other items, then the Virus is kinda the odd one out, in a way, as I can’t see how it would be connected to the other objects – other than it being an instrument of war or destruction. And we’d have to know what the invisible object is, if anything.
It does look like the Vault is some kind of ‘War Room’,,, It’s obvious that the items inside were so dangerous that they had to be securely locked away, so we can assume that the brain is linked with a dangerous ability (possibly one that could destroy the world/ universe/ reality?) seeing as it was removed from somebody’s head… but the fact that it has been kept and not destroyed suggests that it could be an important and/ or necessary item. Which does seem to support your theory that it is linked to something else, like one or more of the other objects, after all.
The Key… I think that it’s for something else, another door or room or place… I’m thinking that Adam went for the Key, but didn’t go for the pyramid or brain first. So if the key was for a door INSIDE the full sized pyramid, it would have been useless on it’s own. Maybe it was for some kind of bunker, where the occupiers could be safe from the effects of the Virus if it ever got out? Or ANY kind of global disaster? (BTW, in the quarantined future, how did Angela survive? Where did she seek refuge from an airborne virus? Hmmm…)
The kris – just scanned on Wiki again! – is “both a weapon and a spiritual object… often considered to have an essence or presence, with some blades possessing good luck and others possessing bad.” Could it be connected to the pyramids? A ceremonial dagger, maybe? It would make sense this item being in the ‘War Vault’ if it was possessed by bad luck or an evil spirit, which would have been an interesting conflict for St Joan. What do you think?
Finally, the cards. I can totally believe that you could be on the right track there, what with the ‘Queen of Clubs’ going missing from the pack, but I also can’t help feeling that there is something deeper there as well. I wonder who handled those cards? Maybe they might provide a vital historical clue to someone with an ability like the late Bridget Bailey (Clairsentience)? For some reason, I called to mind the GN where young Linderman and young Arthur Petrelli were on that boat with their crew, PLAYING CARDS (poker, I think?) before they were ambushed and shot, and Linderman healed Arthur. Remember that? But, thinking about it, it’s very far fetched to think that those same cards could have been saved for all this time (for what reason?), yet maybe another occasion in Company history could be possible.
All in all tho, bro, you’ve done a good bit of deductive reasoning there! Very plausible, and it connects everything in some way or another for the most part… You got me intrigued about this whole thing again now! Time to theorise.

I’m glad my words about the baffling Vault turned out to be an interesting topic for debating!
Well, I have to admit that your comment made my ideas clearer. I really didn’t think that all the objects could be related between themselves, but now that I’ve read you, it makes a lot more sense!
As for Machu Pichu: I can’t allow myself to be ignorant about this historical place, specially if I am Southamerican (and I am). This (Machu Pichu) is a topic that deserves a looong debate, and mostly its REAL history. However, that would be like forgetting about the Heroes universe, and we’re here for debate about the Heroes universe lol!

Anyway… There’s something about Machu Pichu that I would like to say because it could explain something about the pyramid in the Vault:
As we all know, the Egypcian pyramids are gold or yellow, but the pyramid in the Vault is silver (or grey). The pyramids of Machu Pichu were (and are) grey-silver. Interesting? That simple deduction is on what I’m basing to say that the Pyramid in the Vault is not from Egypt.
You mentioned another interesting thing about this topic: Maya Herrera. Let me tell you that this is the first time (believe it or not) that I put attention to that.
Maya is not a common name (not even in Southamerica), and as you mentioned, there was a huge civilization in Southamerica called the Mayas, which lived in the same moment than the Incas and the Aztecas. Machu Pichu is located in Peru, and the territory that now is known as Peru, it was formerly the northern limit of the Incan territory, and the southern limit of the Mayan territory. Also, Maya is from Republica Dominicana, and that territory was once inside the Mayan Empire. There are a lot of Mayan stories, and one of those includes a “Black Plague”, known to be a mortal desease that appeared from one day to another and killed (unexplainably) a whole village… Doesn’t this look familiar? Remember Maya’s ability?
As for the Empty Stand: Actually it wasn’t the stand were the strain of the virus was. There were shown two empty stands: One was opened, and the other one was closed and locked. Obviously, the opened one was the one which holded the strain of the virus, so we have another empty stand, closed, locked, and for some reason, there was nothing inside it… Or was it?
Maybe we’re theorizing about this Empty Stand and then it turns out to be that there was absolutely nothing in there. Yes, I thought about that, but why would the camera show that Empty Stand the same way thet it showed the other stands? That’s why I think that there was something inside that Stand, and we have two explanations for us to not see anything inside it:
1.- The object inside is invisible
2.- The object inside is so small that we can’t see it at simple sight. (Maybe is microscopic or nanoscopic).
Well… I’m going to stop here. I know there are a lot of more objects of the Vault that I didn’t comment, but if I do, this post would be as long as the Bible itself LOL!
I would prefer to comment object by object (maybe two at a time) and when we finish debating about them, we should start with another ^^

Ah, the vault…I can only imagine what will happen with that. Also, correct me if I’m wrong, but the Vault wasn’t under the main Primatech facility (the one which burned down), but instead was below the paper company Primatech facility. Unless, of course, those were one and the same, but it definintly didn’t feel like it.

You’ve hit the nail on the head there bro, that’s exactly what I thought! (Wanted to mention it before, but didn’t want to digress from what I was discussing… You’re right tho, we should discuss a couple of things at a time if possible.)
Maya’s character wasn’t very well received in general (they did make both the twins a bit annoying, imo! Especially after a few weeks… like how Claire is still whining about not being normal after 3 seasons – change the record lol!) but when I realised the connections that I’m sure the writers were suggesting (Maya/ Mayan Civilisation… black tears (manifestation of virus or poison)/ Black Plague, etc) it grabbed my attention straight away. In fact, I started browsing through Heroes sites & came across Hana Gitelman ’stuff’ which indirectly led to some article/ footage referring to a spate of mysterious deaths across the country/ continent… (I’m trying not to go too in depth to keep the comment short, so sorry if my info seems a bit vague!)
In short, the mysterious deaths were obviously caused by Maya (I think they found the guys in the van that were trying to ‘help’ them get across the border, or the other guys she killed when they did cross the border) and the report was about a Black Plague… you probably know the reports I’m referring to anyway! If not, let me know and I’ll try to find a link. Considering the role Maya was originally SUPPOSED to have in the Shanti Virus storyline, this would have tied in the Mayan Prophecies neatly… bring about the Black Plague (end of the world) to cure it (to save the world). Damn, that story really DID get ruined, didn’t it? Such a shame
I think a lot of fans would have more respect for that season – and the series – if they could have stuck to that plot.
The writer’s strike created a Butterfly Effect that has ruined the future [of Heroes] LOL!
And the Pyramids… I was vaguely aware of the colour thing, thanks for making it clear though. What I thought also, is that the Aztec or Incan Pyramids where more ’stepped’ than the Egyptian ones – do you understand what I mean by that? Like a pyramid that goes up like large stairs from base to apex on all four sides,,, tricky to explain without a diagram, but hopefully you know what I mean! Maybe I’m wrong, let me know.
Finally, that’s another good point about the Empty Stand… the item could be microscopic/ nanoscopic. This even ties in with the Brain/ mini-Pyramid/ mini-Trojan Horse theory – if the object was small to begin with, it could have been shrunk even further… the mind boggles! I like that one!

Hey, I think you might just be right about that one. When Peter and Adam were stopped by Hiro they were going through some kind of warehouse, so I think it might have been Primatech Paper Company, unless they had another ‘business’ as a front for their operations. I got the impression that the building that burned down was a different building too, but saying that, wasn’t Level 5 in (under) that building? Because Echo, Doyle and Danny Pine were released by HRG as bait for Sylar at the end of Villains, and Sylar locked Meredith and HRG in a holding cell. And if you remember season 1, when Sylar was captured, he was held in the lower levels of Primatech Paper, wasn’t he? (Matt seemed to think so).
Hmmm… I’m gonna check on this, and I’ll let you know bro… or vice versa if you find out? Cheers!

Looked on Heroes Wiki and Wikipedia, between the two sites I realised that there are two Primatech locations: in Odessa, Texas (Primatech Paper Co. where the Vault is and where Sylar was held in Season 1) and New York (Primatech Research, where Level 5 is… this is the facility that burned down).
From Heroes Wiki:
“The Company vault is located three floors beneath Primatech Paper Co. This is where the Company keeps and heavily guards many of its valuable items.”

“Primatech Paper Company (formerly known as the Primatech Facility), based in Odessa, Texas, is the most notable front in the series and serves as the base of operations for the majority of introduced characters.

It was first presented as the base of operations for Bennet, it has since been seen as being used to house people (who are often captured) with enhanced abilities, where they run tests and place tracking devices on and in them, and (on some occasions) erase their memory using the Haitian’s abilities before releasing them. The strain was locked in a vault deep below the facility. The vault also contained several other items, most notably a golden key, which Monroe is seen reaching for. In an interview with the World Balloon podcast, Jeph Loeb stated that nothing is placed on the show on accident, and that the hand of cards, the brain in the bottle, and the other things found in the vault have a purpose. He also noted that the brain was discussed in a line in the script involving Matt Parkman, but it was deleted in post production.
As seen on their logo at their Heroes Evolutions website, Primatech was created forty-six years ago, fifteen years before the start of the Company.
Primatech Research is located in Hartsdale, New York. Victoria Pratt originally stored Strain 138 of the Shanti virus there, but it was moved after Adam Monroe attempted to steal it on November 02, 1977. The facility is later used by Bob Bishop, as well as Angela Petrelli when she takes control of the Company. Sylar later attacks the facility, killing all the personnel, and puts it into lockdown. He then injects Meredith Gordon with adrenaline, and her unstable pyrokinetic abilities cause the facility to go up in flames.
Primatech Research also houses Level Five, which mostly contains the most dangerous posthumans that the Company has captured.”
So it sounds like the Vault and contents are still very much accessible… hopefully it won’t be forgotten about or dropped from any future storyline.
