Sylar, can absorb powers like Peter? If so it’s probably the same way that Arthur Petrelli absorbs abiities, I think this story arc might be a mistake, if they go this way with Sylar’s character. I would begin to lose interest and stop watching the show all together. I would like to know more about “The Hunger” with Sylar’s abiitites and how he is able to take abilities from others, but to make him “like” Peter? I don’t know this would be a good idea. Wouldn’t Sylar have figured it out by now? if he could in fact absorb abilities?
Unless of course the writers know something that we don’t know, and that Milo is leaving the show soon and Gabriel Petrelli becomes the new good guy? who knows.
This would make Angela Petrelli a liar in Season 2 when she tells Peter in the future after the Shanti Virus has killed 93% of the Worlds population, that he is the most powerul of all the Heroes because he absorbs abilities from other people. But then Angela doesn’t tell the truth anyway

I don’t think it means that Sylar will subconsciously absorb powers like Peter does. I think it’d be something along the lines of: Sylar understands how the brain works so he can rewire himself. Basically, he gets the powers without the other person getting hurt.

Crap crap and more crap. Seriously writers wth? Its like watching an entirely different show. “The Hunger”? Okay it was stupid but at least it was a little believeable even if it meant that Gabriel would be a complete psycho way before when we met him in season 1. But giving him the ability to absorb powers like Peter, you’d think he’d have figured it out by now… I think they’re just becoming lazy D8
Maybe Sylar will figure out what is wrong with Elle and help her fix herself?
If Sylar can proximity absorb, maybe that is how he git back the Nuke power and the paint the future powers in “I am become Death:” he picked them up from past/present Peter being around.
All I know is I think the fact that Peters powers were taken are LAME…. I hope they give us a new hero to rally around if they decide to kill him off. I thought they might make him into a cool villan, but this story line is getting lame… It’s going NOWHERE… They better start coming up with better story lines or I am outa here. You just can’t steal superman and not replace him. I’m getting a little disappointed. Anyone agree?

ah ok cause on another site i read peter discoveries one of his older hidden abilities…but i was not sure if thta was accurate. and even then, he utilized nearly all of them except being invisible..
It is being heavily implied that Sylar can rewire his brain , it seems that they will now simply confirm it. You People complaining here seem extremely stupid actually.
I miss season 1. What happened to ordinary people with extraordinary abilities? They should have put Claire back in high school or college or introduced a character with an ordinary life. Instead, they bring in a villain who could make black holes :P. Isn’t that what got people hooked at first?
I mean c’mon, KILL the dead weight already. They didn’t have any problem killing Isaac (who they replaced with an african guy…) And I hope they destroy time traveling for a while (notice that that’s what they ALWAYS use to introduce conflict)

Personally I wouldn’t really mind if Gabriel had the abilities to absorb people’s powers as well, but I really want it to be distinctive and unique. Like how Arthur’s ability stands out.
I actually like the idea of Sylar being able to rewire his brain even more, or even better SYNC his brainwave with other’s gifted people.
I personally feel that its time for Sylar to become a hero, I like him as the good guy (especially in the future), and I guess him being able to obtain power without bloodshed is one step closer to that, then I’m fine with it.
But I want him to go through trials and tribulations to get there. It’s gotta take more than controlling the hunger to redeem himself for killing countless amount of people.
Whats the crack, volume 3 was goin good untill this, im not bein funny but even if peter gets his ability back its gona mess up now because his dad has basicaly the same ability :S
The entire series is bordering on ridiculousness now. It feels like the writers have been trying to hard and now can’t find a way to cover everything at once. If it turns out Gabriel does have Peter’s power, I may stop watching the show. That’s as far as I go, thanks.
I like the idea of each of the three power-absorbing Petrellis who do so in different ways. I thought that was a good dynamic for them and now they’re going to ruin it.
This is becoming ridiculous - again! Season 2, well I think most people agree that the show lost its way and it seems as though Season 3 is already going down that road.
Why on earth did Peter lose his powers? That was completely the wrong way to take his character. I like that Sylar is becoming a good guy whilst still acting a bit like a villian. Claire and Hiro should both go though - they are annoying!
Yes while Claire may be annoying Hiro is a badass. If Sylar really has Peter’s ability wouldn’t the hunger be a psychological disorder? How the hell can Peter absorb a psychological disorder? Maybe they said something about Petrelli’s being able to absorb abilities and it was misunderstood.
i think all you people complaining about heroes are ridiculous. you need to stop thinking of what could be or how you could make this or that better. its a television show. sit down, watch, and enjoy. and if you cant do that, stop watching the show and complaining. if you dont like it turn your tv off.
Actually this was my favorite episode so far, I think it is making their roles far more complex, really turning into a large-scale battle. I did not really like season 1 cause the heroes did not gather together till the last episode, there is a lot more character development and interaction this season. I full confidence they will explain themselves and make everything make sense, they have in the past. I like the new way they are going. They have already established that these are “normal” people who woke up with abilities, now they are choosing sides and becoming less normal and more extraordinary. The only thing I have not liked about this season is when they killed Adam Monroe, that annoyed me :-z Sylar is my Hero (along with Hiro of course)
I believe Peter will eventually get his powers back. I think he was always destined to lose the powers and then regain them at some point……anyone ever wonder where that big scar on the face of future Peter came from? I think he has always been meant to lose the powers then regain them hence the huge scar on future Peters face. At some point Peter will get the injury on his face it will leave a scar then sometime afterwards he will regain his powers.
I’m under the impression that Arthur, Peter, and Gabriel all have the same power. Arthur’s is more advanced, refined, in the same way that Matt and his father had the same power but Maury knew how to use it to fullest extent. All three Petrellis have the power to rewrite their own genetic code, Peter and Gabriel less effectively, but Arthur’s power has developed to the point where he can also rewrite others. This explains why Peter and Gabriel never show complete mastery over the abilities they take and Aurthur can ‘fix’ people. Arthur sees himself as the ultimate evolution, he can write and rewrite his code until he is perfect.
Peter and Gabriel have the same power but their natures have driven them to activate them differently. Peter wanted to help people, making his power born of good which leads him to a non-violent manifestation. Gabriel was cast aside, frustrated, and unhappy, his disposition drives his power down a darker path. I’m thinking that its going to be revealed that Peter and Gabriel are fraternal twins, brother vs brother, good vs evil, balance to the universe blah blah blah. i also wouldnt be too suprised to see some kind of legend or prophecy about them, some kind of curse related to the eclipse and the Petrelli lineage. Peter will get his power back, i think naturally because ‘revenge is in his blood’. Nathan is the arbiter, born first and powerless as a foil to his two brothers, its all very tragic.
Arthur asks for Mohinders help fixing the formula. Red flag. I think that the story behind Claire’s pain problem is that she, while being born from two people with abilities, is defective because Nathan has a slight genetic abnormality, similar to disease becoming more prevalent in future generations of families. Nathan and the other artificial heroes haven’t noticed any problems or side effects of their abilities, but the genetic errors have been magnified in their children and as their powers mature, they get worse and worse.
You people are ridiculous….these people are excellent writers…I think they kno exactly what they’re doing….all of these “extra steps” are only taken to better the show in the long run.
I think this is why future peter told present peter that he need’s gabriel’s ability, by knowing how to use certain abilities he needs to find out how they work…
Since all of his abilities are actually absorbed so he only know how to use it but not knowing how it works… maybe, just maybe he can get his abilities back just by figuring it out
That is so interesting I thought Claire could not feel pain anymore because of something Sylar did when he took/absorbed her power. We all know that Peter is going to get his powers back, but I think Nathan is going to join his father, with Tracy. Nathan was close to his father. Sylar is going to play along with Papa Patrelli but he will loyal to his mother. I like the idea of Peter and Sylar being twins, good call apollo.
I also wanted to say, I hope they keep Elle on the show for some time, bad or good. Her character is hilarious.
i like Apollo’s ideas, very nice idea about the twins, and the family power variation. About Claire not feeling pain, they say she can’t, but when she is zapped in the chest by Elle (episode 7) she collapses on the floor. Later in episode 7, when they are on the plane, Elle passes her electricity through Claire, and Claire sits in her chair gasping. Either there are some continuity issues, or the feeling pain thing is a hoax (or I’m mistaken, which is entirely possible).
when large amounts of electricity pass through your body, your muscles tense up and in many cases of death by electrocution, prevent you from letting go of whatever is in your hands such as a wrench, metal pole, screwdriver, ect. this sudden shock through your body knocks the wind out of you and because your muscles are all contracting, makes it difficult to breath

Of course peter will get his powers back, he is always the hero. As far as I can remember, he thought he had lost his powers in season 2 before he broke out with Adam Monroe. He is always the hero who saves the day in the end.
When Elle zapped Claire (@ her house) Claire was already on the floor, thats when her muscles contracted not allowing her to get up. Claire would have never won that fight, although she would have continued to heal.
I was wondering, since neither of the Petrelli parents can be trusted, which one is good or bad. What if the characters that we consider to be villians are not really villians at all. How do we know who is fighting for the greater good?

I personally think Elle is Sylar’s future son Noah’s mum.
in the early episode of season 1 peter didn’t know he had power. he dreamed of events, like he could fly or he could see the future. and he saw nathan in his dream that he nathan could fly, but he was confused if it was him or nathan who flew in that dream. so he setted an appointment with nathan, to test if he could really fly by jumping from a tall building. it happened that nathan save him by flying and catching him in mid air. but in that event nathan related to peter that he peter had flew after he caught him peter. another event also in season 1 where claire and peter fall from a tall building during the confrontation with sylar, he peter had no ability of healing but he had at that time to his amazement. so it is apparent that he peter absord the other person’s power if it was manifested by the person in peter’s proximity. then all the events where peter absorbed power, was manifested in his proximity. so in season 3 when peter got sylar’s hunger, it was manisfested by sylar in his proximity. so i think peter’s genetic manipulation was only to absorbed ability if manifested to him.
i still believed sylar’s ability to control the hunger was connected to him getting the ability of bridget. bridget ability was to know the history of everything she touches. so it triggers a compasionate effect on sylar. just like when he saved claire from the vortex. he related how he saw the pain that claire had gone through when he sylar got her power.
its surely crap if sylar has the ability of absorbing power in proximity all along, because i believed his genetic code manipulation was to discern the complexity of things and to know how it works even the genetic code. so he can only get ability by getting the genetic code of the other person who had ability. and he got it from the back of the head, may be near the adrenalin gland, just like what she did with claire. and i thought he ate that portion of the brain so that his genetic code will be altered to incorporate the new ability. there must be some genetic manipulation, injection may be, so that sylar may have the ability to absorbed power by proximity.
we will just wait and see epoisode 8.

first… sylar is getting way out of character. okay i found it dumb at first that the shows main villain was also the main heroes bro. but it grew on me. but then they turned him good. he would be a way more intriguing character if he was still out there on the run stealing abilities. not having family time with momma petrelli and peter. second, it already obvious peters going to get his powers back. they practically gave that away when he was going to get injected with a synthetic one, i mean come on!!! third, they need to finally just break down and make an avengers like superteam. i mean heroes are teaming up all the time on here. claire wants to go out and fight crime. their not ordinary people anymore. they went from ordinary clothing to acting like their in the matrix. not that many people have badass jackets peter. some times you can wear a damn t-shirt or something.

Don’t yall remember in the future, when sylar is in a fight with Knox, he senses his power and explains how it works and then soon after goes ape sh!t on his ass as Knox would. That is a twist of his power he has yet to harness. I bet the whole cutting the head open thing is somehow symbolized with open a watch up and the how it functions and it becomes a hunger like a serial killer, kill to kill and then his hunger for how their brain works.

Anyway the idea that Sylar dosen’t have to cut heads open for new powers sounds like a bit of a cop out, why didn’t they make him that way to begin with, what lead him to believe he had to steal brains to get the powers instead of just taking them the way Peter does? Kind of ruins the character a bit, and kind of cheapens the cutting open heads thing. I felt that one of his trademark “moves” was the headslicing to get the new powers, and one of the things that makes him such a good character. I hope Peter gets his mojo back too. I still want to know how Sylar gets his “pre-Shaanti virus” powers back, such as a the Ted Sprague nuke ability and Issac’s Future Painting, which he regained in the future episode. And how did Claire and Peter survive Sylar’s nuking of Costa Verde?

Hello all… I have wanted to explain this for the longest. Remember when peter went to the future and saw Sylar in clair old house. Sylar said he wasnt going to give peter his power….. then after painting the future he said now you have it… basically you know how to access it…. i am paraphrasing as the episode was a few weeks ago. People….. peter has almost everyones power he comes in contact with … he just doent know how to access all of them… Sylars special ability is to know how things work and he had to explain to peter how to access that special ability… i have heard all types of weird talk about the hunger and abilitys and peter absorbing sylar… I dont think so … sylar had to tell peter how to access… this unique ability… peter abosorbs but eiter dont know he has it or doesnt know how to use a power
oh… and the scare was a way to distiguish future peter from current peter. remember people thes are writers and they have to find a way to show us their vision… for example good clair and bad clair… blonde good.. dark hair bad…. also matt reading minds we needed to have a visible signal that he was doing something so the do this zoom in thing with noise…. or hiro blinking to show he is stopping time……… Most of this show is well put together … the only hole is see is the hatian i dont understand how his power can be checked or how it actually works… and why can any other character absorb that power or ability….. i guess he keeps the show and characters honest……. not literally …. you know

Just give up guessing because it will spoil the surprise and you’ll probably never guess heroes.it’s impossible.Although peter better get his powers back!!
That’s what is good with thrillers it keep the viewer guessing. And it trigger a hunger in the intellect to see what will happen in the next episode. I like heroes because the plots are not obvious and it keep us guessing and wanting to see the outcome of our chosen side.
The Haitan’s ability is to erase accurately the memory of a person to a certain time of their life by touching their heads. He also could deactivate the altered genetic code of the person with ability thereby making that person normal human when he is around. May be in close proximity. So no one person with ability can absord his power. He could only be confronted with a human to human force, but he could be difficult to defeat because of his built and strength. And with Mr Bennet, who is trained with human to human confrontation, they could be a force to recond with. He may be the key in defeating Arthur.

What it means by Sylar absorbing abilities, it isn’t via empathic mimicry like Peter, it just means he doesn’t have to study their brains to understand how they work. Think back to I Am Become Death, and Knox and Sylar in the future. Sylar used Knox’ ability before going nuclear.
Sylar does not absorb powers, he steals them by examining their brain and pinpointing the source of the power, thereby taking it. That was bull crap.
I am also getting tired of people complaining about this show Heroes, and am angry about the low ratings. Just because people get a little confused and dont understand whats going on, they give up with the show to watch useless repetitive shows like Dancing with the stars, House, CSI, etc.
This is exactly the mentality of most Americans.
The show makes sense, people are just stubborn to understand what is going on with the show.
Bad guys: Sylar, Elle, Arthur, Knox, Flint, Daphne (Tracy Strauss?).
Good Guys: Hiro, Ando, Peter, Nathan, Claire, HRG, Haitian, Angela, Matt
People that have died: Bob bishop, Adam Monroe, Maury Parkman, Niki Sanders,
DL Hawkins
Adam and Maury were useless, especially Adam. Maury was obviously going to die after he heard that Arthur was going to tell Daphne to kill matt. Its his son for god sake.
Last episode “Villains” went back in time to show how Arthur, Sylar, and Flint became villains. Although, they should have had Knox’s story as well, but I guess we’ll find that out later, same with Daphne. Sylar is just sucking up to Arthur and Elle is manipulated since her father got her into the whole company agent thing in the first place.
Please, give this show a chance. Its going to get better, I promise. Tim Kring is gonig to save this show I know it. Just remember how special season 1 and 2 were and think the same for this season.
BTW, Hiro is NOT going to lose his power. I am 100% sure of that. I think his memory is going to get messes up. My guess is Ando is going to stop Arthur and then Hiro can teleport out with Ando.
