( S03E10) Episode 10 of Heroes season 3 is titled “The Eclipse Part 1″. It airs on 11-24-2008. Now stop reading if you don’t want to now 
It’s called Eclipse well mostly because all Heroes will lose their powers! Does it have something to do with Arthur? Of course it does!
A powerfull eclipse casts a shadow over all of the Heroes that impacts their abilities. After reuniting Sylar and Elle, Arthur orders them to find Claire and bring her to him. Matt , Hiro and Ando team up together and follow Daphne to her hometown of Athens, Georgia to discover what she’s been hiding. Meanwhile, Nathan and Peter Petrelli travel together to Haiti in search of the the only man that can stop their father from destroying the world, the Haitian. Jack Coleman and Ali Larter also star. Robert Forster also guest stars.
What Daphne has? Is it stolen? Why Haitian, does it have something to do with his powers which can stop Arthur’s powers? Or Arthur and Sylar are to powerful so they need to “shut them down” ?
Interesting he wants Claire, maybe she’s the pure blood or maybe because of the reason Angela hid her? Did Angela told them to get the Haitian?

Back when Angela told Mr. Bennet the Haitian was unavailable at the time, I was really wondering where was he!!! He can help do some damage to the Arthur and his crew of Villains. Of course taking down Pinehearst would not be so easy because Arthur and others will have tricks up their sleeves. Also wonder if other members of the Haitian’s family might have powers as well.
I cant believe Elle would turn into a baddie from the pictures. If her dad was still alive, he would be so disappointed with her. Claire and Elle seemed to make a great team. I miss that.
From looking at the pictures, I could see that Nathan sided with Peter to fight Pinehearst. Those two have tension towards each other from time to time, but most of the time they are really close. Does anyone find it funny that Nathan and
Peter got with the same woman. In “Five Years Gone” future Niki was involved in a relationship with Peter. In one of the episodes, Nathan slept with Niki’s Jessica persona. Now Nathan is with Tracy, NIki’s identical sister lol. Crazy huh?
Oh great, Arthur already has the Regenerative ability and now he wants Claire’s powers too?
Anon I agree with you, but maybe Claire’s regenerative ability is better than the one Arthur has. Remember her powers evolved where she can’t feel pain. Arthur has the regenerating ability where he can feel pain. Still I see no difference on how having her abilities will create a better outcome in the show.
it’s possible that Arthur wants to see his granddaughter for some other reason, that she holds some key unrelated to his absorption ability.

I reckon that the “Dying of the Light” is obviously the Eclipse that takes everyones powers and those of “pure blood” (Claire) can save them, which I think means healing those Heroes to help them regain their powers. So I think Arthur wants her because she is the only thing that could stop him winning, as a powered up Peter, Hiro & Parkman could do some major damage.
I’m loving this season but sometimes the writing is ridiculously slack. In the last episode, why didn’t Claire just inject her blood into Peter & Elle? That would have cured them both and potentially would have given Peter his powers back. Plus, Parkman has turned into the biggest wuss every, honestly I think its a joke that he just forgets about his wife and kid and goes chasing after some new girl cuz he saw it in the future?!? Ridiculous!! Why doesn’t he just read her mind, he’d know her intentions and he would know that she was double crossing him. Once again bad writing is blighting the show. Give me a crack at the whip and I gaurantee it would kick unholy amounts of ass!!!

I have to agree with you about Claire’s blood possibly being able to heal Peter and Elle – I was thinking the same thing when I watched that episode. (Come to think of it, wouldn’t it be able to cure Scaly Mohinder as well then? Or has his genetic makeup changed so much that he can’t be simply cured?)
And I also agree about Matt reading Daphne’s mind… although it’s possible that she is not really double-crossing Matt, but Arthur instead. Remember when he said to ’stick to the plan’? I find it a bit odd (or stupid) that she would call Arthur to say ‘he believes I’m on his side’ when she was in the NEXT ROOM to a mindreader! Especially after tricking Knox into thinking that he killed them both… maybe ‘the plan’ involves gaining Arthur’s trust again by making him THINK she is double-crossing Matt?
I’m just saying, there is usually a twist when you deal with double-crossers… think of Sylar – sorry, Gabriel – ‘killing’ Peter by throwing him out of a seventh storey window…
Good point about Daphne, I didn’t look at it like that but it does make sense.
That’s true about Mohinder. He already knows where Claire lives and has superpowers, so surely he could go seek her out and cure himself. I hate to whinge but sometimes its like the writers have forgotten what they’ve written before and don’t bother explaining anything. I appreciate that they’re giving the audience a bit of credit by letting them work out the little details themselves, but the fact they just blatantly discard old information is criminal.
I also have MAJOR beef with the fact that they’ve gotten rid of some awesome characters only to keep crap ones. The German had the potential to be amazing, as did Stephen Canfield, but instead they kill them off and keep douches like Flint!!! Crappy power, crappy character!!

In the future Claire was working with Daphne and Knox who are currently at Pinehearst so maybe the off chance is is that he might be trying to recruit Claire, maybe by promising to make her feel more human again?

Thanks for the stills. I’m curious as to how all this will play out and if the stories of power loss are true I worry what may happen to Claude. I’m hoping he has some other hiding tricks that don’t require his power.
just to clear up some speculations about the painting of the villans that usutu painted , the other guy on in the painting was clearly sylar, i mean look whats happening now, sylar is once again a ”bad guy” or is he??
I’m not sure if Sylar knows what side he is going to choose yet, it seems to me that he wants to check out how far things will go with his father and stick around a bit longer so he might find out if he(dad) was telling him the truth about his mother (Angela) and why he was given up for adoption.
I think it might be that Claire is third or fourth generation “hero” and then therefore has evolved enough to still have her power when the eclipse happens, or maybe just because of the ability she has who knows but I’m thinking that this is or has at least something to do with her being “special”, anyway hope the next few weeks goes a bit quicker than usual as no “Heroes” fix this Monday. Is it because of the election?? Anyone!!
Hi Tarot, I too am worried about Claude. Will a fantastic actor/characrer ever return to the show & how will he fill in. From what I have read from the latest graphic novels with Elle & Claude. If it was the other way around, ie Claude changed his mind & returns that way, then it wudnt be a bad idea. But since I saw spoiler pics with Elle & HRG that prob wont happen. So I am tryin to think of another way Claude can come back into the show. The show cud do with him back in this season/volume. The villains want revenge on HRG & the company – which will be perfect for Claude. I cant remember who said it but they said Claude will appear in episode 10 or something, but accordin to the press release thats not happening, unless he’s a special guess like David Anders!!
Anyhow, enough rambling lol Why doesn’t the press release mention anything about the mysterious villain, Samedi? Hmm? I reckon he will play a big part in the Eclipse & The story with The Haitian, Peter & Nathan.

When Episode 10 airs, Peter is still POWERLESS which MAY mean something that relates to the ECLIPSE; what do u guys think?
@ Matt- In the 2 part beautifully done GN, Sum Quod Sum, that I read, Claude tried to train Elle in part 2 but /she/ bailed. As for the promos for on screen, episode “Villains” I believe that is a flashback that takes place with Elle and HRG before Claude met up with Peter as if I read it right, Sylar hasn’t started a full on killing spree yet. Near as I can tell, Sylar had only killed Brian Davis (telekinetic guy) by that point. What worries me is after all that, the Eclipse that’s rumored to negate everyone’s powers. If Claude can’t hide with his gift, I hope he’s picked up other tricks to hide himself.

Thanks for the post Tarot. I think each ability has got more than one level, sometime several levels, ie Matt & his mind reading powers. But with Claude I can only think of think of 2 levels.
1: Being invisible
2: When he touches things, they too turn invisble {people, objects like that bagel & handbag}
I can’t think of any other level or thing that Claude can do with his powers, maybe he will suprise us. Looking back at the spoilers about Volume 4; Fugitives, I think its more likely he will come back then. I don’t know why, I just have this hunch he will.
I can’t wait to see more of Sylar & Elle’s past!!
here are some things that got off from the eyes of Heroes:
#1. The “butterfly effect” is to silly. Remember in the future shown in episode 1 changed in episode 2. I mean, Sylar got Claire’s power (which never happened in the original future) plus all from level 5 escaped. Next, in The Butterfly Effect, every hero gets killed by Maury, Tracy, Knox and Adam, but in Eris Quod Sum Maury & Adam got killed by Arthur. And we know Tracy is too good to do evil (I wonder what Barbara, Tracy’s other sister, could do).
In episode 4, it shows Claire working with Knox and Daphne for Pinehearst, and Nathan shows up as president of the US and he speaks in Pinehearst, but now he’s up to destroying the said biotech firm. In the next episode Angela sees Peter dead in the future, but now is not necessary because he lost his ability. It seems like every episode changes the future!!! Crazy!!!
#3. In the episode where Knox held Sylar’s son, Knox is seen holding “Noah” and next not, then again, Noah is held by Knox… Wierd!!!
Quintin, there are two alternate timelines. The villains future and the exposed future. remember when future peter shot Nathan. technically future peter wasn’t supposed to exist, because he changed the timeline. but remember on ” i am become death” when Present Peter asked why the timeline hasn’t changed because he shot Nathan. Future Peter said that someone (Mohinder) was making a formula which gets out. The head of pineherst company Arthur petrelli wants the formula to get exposed so everyone can have powers. So that’s the exposed future. Claire is working with Daphne and Knox because in the exposed future because of pineherst company. Now the villains future happens when sylar cuts open claire’s head and takes her power, and when the villains never get caught. Remember in the butterfly effect when angela petrelli had her dream when every heroe was getting killed that was to with the “villains” alternate future. remember when hiro went into the future to see what happens if he doesn’t get the formula. thats when future ando kills future hiro and tokyo explodes. thats probably when arthur petrelli didn’t get the formula but there was still bad things happening and that’s when the villains never were sent back to level 5. and so the heroes have to prevent TWO alternate timelines. i will explain more in a minute
anyway when arthur killed adam and maury that was related to the exposed future. but when all the heroes were seen dead in angela’s dream that the villains future. the heroes need to prevent two futures but in the last two seasons they only needed to prevent one

The Second Coming
Four years into the future, Peter is chased into a building, where Claire aims a gun at him. The two argue about the events of the past four years, which include:
Nathan telling the world about the existence of evolved humans.
Camps being set up to hold evolved humans.
People conducting experiments on evolved humans.
Peter going into hiding.
Peter having the ability of illusion.
Peter getting a scar across his face.
Claire shoots at Peter, but Peter stops time, takes her gun, and teleports to March 20, 2007 to stop Nathan’s press conference.
In the present day, after Peter stops Nathan’s press conference, Angela tells him that he has changed the future for the worse.
The Butterfly Effect
In the present day, Future Peter attempts to create a string web to return to his future. Angela comes into Peter’s apartment and asks why he hasn’t returned to where he came. Peter tells her that he’s busy saving the world, and can’t go back yet. Angela tells future Peter that by stopping Nathan’s press conference he has let Sylar take Claire’s ability. A chain of events happens because of this and eventually lets twelve evolved humans from Level 5 escape. She refers to this change as “the butterfly effect.”
I Am Become Death
Future Peter and Present Peter teleport four years into the future, where people fly and everyone can have abilities. During his time in the future, and through Matt’s dream, many people are now in different situations than before:
Matt has married Daphne, they have a daughter, Daniella, and have adopted Molly.
Daphne, Claire, Knox, and the Haitian are part of an organization that hunts down “villains”.
Peter is known as a terrorist and murderer.
Nathan is married to Tracy and is now the President of the United States. He is aware of the paintings that prophesy of the Earth’s destruction, and has Congress create an army of people with abilities.
Sylar (now going by Gabriel) is raising his son Noah in Costa Verde, and is trying to control his murderous appetite.
Mohinder, a recluse, has mutated further and covers his face. He lives in the darkness of his lab.
Graphic Novel: Resistance
After a terrorist attack at the Pinehearst Company three years in the future, Claire tries to hunt down the leaders of the attack. At the terrorists’ headquarters, she finds her uncle, who is the mastermind of the terror group. After he disappears, she swears revenge on him for what he did.
Notes
Angela has two dreams which foretell possible futures. In one, she sees the destruction of the Level 5 escapees and learns of several other “villains”. In another, she learns of her husband’s return.

About the Haitian, do powers just stop around him because of his presence or can he control it? I don’t believe he was aware that Daphne, Ando and Hiro were in the theatre, yet he stopped their powers. However in series 1 when HRG and the Haitian were talking to Nathan, Nathan could fly away. So the Haitian didn’t stop his powers. Any thoughts/ answers?
I think the Hatian can contously contol his power.

I’m pretty curious about the Haitians abilities as well, kinda think he knows what he’s doing, I think that even though he didn’t know that Daphne and Hiro were there he just used his power because he was doing something very important and high risk so was using his ability stopping ability. I can’t remember quite where I read it but apparently we will find out a lot more about the Haitian and his ability and how to use one’s ability while he is trying to stop it. And I think that one of the guys from the level 5 escape; “Samed” is the Haitians brother, as it has also been said that we will be meeting someone from his(Haitians) family. And all this should at least be starting within the the few weeks of Heroes.
I’d really like to know the Haitians name as I’m kinda sick of calling him the Hatian. I can’t believe that it’s not on tomorrow/Monday this week, do you know why?? Is it because of the Election?? Let me know if you can, Thanks.
If Arhur wanted Claire, then why didn’t he just get her when she was in Pinehearst (when Peter fell off the building)?
Oh wait.. I thought I just figured it out.. lol..
Maybe Arthur thought that since Adam’s and Claire’s power are the same, he thought that he does not necesarily need Claire’s power because he already has Adam’s. But then in episode 9, where those paintings of the eclipse were shown, Usutu(I’m thinking that he was in the room with the villains and gave those paintings to them) might have said that Claire’s purity of blood(the one refeered to by Kaito) is the only thing that could reverse the effects of the eclipse.

Was it when Kaito gave baby Claire to HRG on top of the Dufoe Building, that he said that about the purity of blood statement?? I can’t remember. I think since Arthur has had his power for quite sometime he probably has been around for an eclipse so knows that he can’t use his ability, but I’m not sure if he knows that Claire will keep her ability during the eclipse. But if Sylar is really gone back to being a Villain then he might know (since he told Claire she was “special”) and tell Arthur, but he might not really be a villain again or might not even know what kind of special Claire is just that she is Special. what do you think??

Oh for to say that it was Arthur that drew the drawings of the eclipse and the man/ person holding something, kinda looks like he is carrying a person that is bleeding, there is a little bit of red on the thing he is carrying and Arthur has a red pen/ pencil in his hand. See he took Peters powers so he too can draw the future now because Peter was the one that had met Issac. But considering the red I think you might be right about the blood thing, but I can’t find it on the DVD’s where Kaito talks about the purity of blood thingy, can you let me know where he made this statement, Thanks.

Her power is to see the past by touching them or something.
Take note that Sylar touch arthur in episode 7 when arthur extend his hand to get sylar up.
Thus , there might be a chance sylar knows thr truth and thinking of double crossing arthur by working as a spy.
i think arthur wants claire because she is to powerful to be helping the otherside.
Tarot – the Claude and Elle graphic novel takes place just before Elle meets up with Claire and they head to Pinehurst (*see last couple of captions on #2)
To whoever said it, Claire’s blood would not restore Peter’s power. It only worked on Sylar because of Mohinder’s formula behind it. Plus, Peter’s powers aren’t damaged, they are gone completely.
Hey, doesn’t anyone find it odd that this upcoming Eclipse is going to apparently nullify everyones’ powers… yet when Hiro travelled to 1671 Japan (Season 2) and witnessed the eclipse in the middle of a battle, he was able to stop time and teleport with no difficulty? I mean, he stopped those arrows in mid-air AND teleported away with the decoy Kensei – DURING that eclipse, if I remember correctly – with ease! I know that this coming Eclipse is supposed to be a pretty powerful one, but shouldn’t his abilities have been at least SLIGHTLY weakened back then?
Maybe not ALL characters will be affected by the Eclipse?
maybe the eclipse has alternating effects. as what is said in some spoilers, the next eclipse will have different effects on those with powers and those who does not have. But it could also mean another thing. Take the case of Hiro, for example. The 1st eclipse made his power known to him. The 2nd eclipse(when he tried to save charlie) made his power weak. The next eclipse(in feudal japan), made his power strong again. So if this pattern continues, I’m guessing that hiro might lose his powers this next eclipse.
(But I have doubts in these thoughts of mine, because next episode, hiro might lose his powers [in the new trailer where arthur touches him in the face and then hiro screams] and the eclipse might be the way to return his powers back; if this happens, peter will get his power back.)

To be honest guys…..with everything thats happening, I think its pretty basic whats happened and what is going to happen.
The original group came across the formula and injected themselves with it and their kids and test subjects, so Claire becomes one of the first pure bloods because both of her family had the formula.

right, why didnt peter absorb his dads ability…? i dont get it, unless the shockin thing that nathan discovers in eclips pt2,,,, is peter is just like his dad and can take ppls powers!!

I was also wondering about that. It is possible that, as you have said, peter has the same power as his dad but still does not know it (like matt parkman) so when he “absorbed” the power of his dad, he felt nothing coming into him because they have the same power. (I was thinking they have the same power since Arthur can use maury’s power but Maury can still use his own powers.)
And what if arthur has the power of the haitian (absorbed it, if they have the same power as peter) and chose to block peter’s power of emphatic mimicry only (since Peter was using electricity that time)? And remember Hiro was supposed to have his memory lost, and that trailer showing arthur touching hiro’s face might be the cause of the loss of his memory, not of his powers. I think these are impossible, but who knows?

Also, I am thinking that Peter have difficulties of using his powers simultaneously. I think I have never seen Peter use two powers at once (has he?). This could explain why he did not absorb his father’s powers (again, because he was using electricity that time). Notice that he “shifted” powers from invisibility to electricity.

I’m also surprised that arthur killed maury, but maybe arthur and maury faked that death (they both can make illusions, remember?), and they did that so that daphne will believe that if she does not follow, she will be killed by arthur. How could maury really care about matt that time if in season 2, he tried to lock up matt in his mind?
didnt peter first get flyin from his brother than clair and so on ….so that would mean he could get them back hint 7 story fall clair there…..it might be family thing slyar cut minds aurther touch and peter can get power just by being next to him….

The whole thing if you think about it does not make any sense. If Peter ability is absorbing other peoples abilities that he comes in contact with. He would have already had Sylar, his father’s, and a few other abilities prior to being hugged by his father Mr. Petrelli.
They made the future Peter appear unstoppable which if you think about it he should be, but the present Peter was always sort of lost and not assertive enough, like in the throwdown he had against Sylar in the first season.
Hiro is one of my favorite characters as well, I don’t like the direction they are taking things with him. I think he will disappear for awhile and maybe come back next season, who knows.
Last, I am not sure about this FUGITIVES thing to come, I just feel the way they are writing things, it may not be what fans are looking for.

You can NEVER see the real future, just knowing what happens changes how it happens.
Everyone says stuff like why didn’t clair do this, or that. Well Maybe nobody knows what would happen if clair shot peter with her blood. What if it did something less desirable? All the why nots and what fors, ruin the show. Yes it could have went down differently, but it didnt.

Sylar THINKS he needs to cut peoples heads open to get powers, so he does.
Different people use abilities differently. I hear sylar doesn’t need to cut heads to get powers at all.. We’ll soon see.
Future Sylar, Peter Flew while regenerating, I don’t think thats it at all. Abilities are prolly very mentally intesnive, so I don’t think he can use all his abilities at once, but I do think he can use multiples.

Peter flew while regenerating? When did this happen? When he exploded in season 1? The way I viewed at it is that after he exploded, he quickly regenerated while he was falling, then quickly flew to save Nathan. My other point is that he is immune to his radioactive powers, that even if he exploded, he will not die or explode into pieces or suffer the side effects of radioactivity(like Ted Sprague, he does not have the ability of regeneration, right?)
And if he can already use his abilities simultaneously that time, why didn’t he just fly when he was about to explode?
By the way, that picture of Sylar concentrating and what seems like shattering a glass, could that be the power of Trevor Zeitlan? Maybe the eclipse enabled him to use his powers again(it was lost due to the Shanti virus except intuitive aptitude and telekinesis). But his hands does not look like he is doing it right =))
a lot of members have been talking about Sylar/ Peter not ever using more than one ability at the same time, in the show, but Sylar has, when he was in his adopted mothers apartment he was using his telekinesis and the freeaing ability at the same time as while he was spraying the water and quickly turning it into ice flakes he was keeping them flying around the room at the sametime. I just looked at the episode again and he is definitely doing both at the same time.

As im guessing everyone knows that the Heroes lose their powers and yes so does Claire thats why she is struggling to survive but we know that she doesnt die cause of episode 12 “Our Father”.
in other words the canadian promo shows elle shooting claire. Also as mikel said Claire is the catalyst and Arthur needs her blood to complete the formula. But something i dont get is Adam and Claire’s power arent they the same? Im guessing not because then Arthur’s blood would help the formula. So Claire is special ….. we will find out when Hiro and Claire meet in 3×11 i think

maybe peter gets all his powers back somehow including sylar’s hunger. thats why future peter told him he needed it to save the world. the haitan dies (i dunno, by gun fire maybe), which leaves peter with a choice to steal his ability by opening his brain when he’s already dead and studying it.
but i do remember kaito mentioning someone of the light or purity in his video to hiro. it could be claire too coz she’s special like sylar said.

the eclipse 400 yrs ago was the one that triggered adams ability. i’m pretty sure. the one from season 1 triggered claire’s.
lets assume adam and claire’s power are exactly the same. try to remember arthur needed to steal adam’s ability to be normal again. there was also the fact that arthur didnt know that the catalyst was a person or that he needed one.
with the regeneration ability sylar, arthur, or peter cant be the catalyst coz it isnt their core ability which and doesnt run naturally through their blood. well thats wat i think if that makes any sense.
