Episode 4×15 Close To You – OFFICIAL Press Release

H.R.G. EXPOSES SAMUEL’S GREATEST WEAKNESS IN AN EFFORT TO STOP HIM

H.R.G. (Jack Coleman) recruits Matt (Greg Grunberg) to help him take down Samuel (Robert Knepper), as they use his long-lost love, Vanessa (guest star Kate Vernon), to lure him to them, but Samuel has his own plans for Vanessa in the works. Meanwhile, Hiro (Masi Oka) and Ando (James Kyson Lee) go to extreme lengths to save Dr. Suresh (Sendhil Ramamurthy). Elsewhere, Peter’s (Milo Ventimiglia) introduction of Emma (guest star Deanne Bray) to his mother (Cristine Rose) brings forth visions of a very grim future.

Todd Stashwick and Sasha Pieterse also guest star.

Thanks to SycloneFX for the video [ via ODI ]

Any scoop on Jayma Mays?
Only that Masi Oka might one day “return the favor” by guest starring on Mays’ show, ‘Glee.’ “I actually talked to Kevin Reilly about that, and he was intrigued,” Oka tells me. I know what you’re thinking: Hiro can carry a tune? (And hopefully sans subtitles?) “I can sing enough,” says Oka. “Let’s put it that way.” Ten bucks if he covers a certain song by Enrique Iglesias.

What’s coming up for Noah on ‘Heroes’?

Not much lovin’, despite having reunited with almost-flame Lauren (played by ‘Law & Order’ alumna Elisabeth Rohm). As series creator Tim Kring explains, “One of the problems for a show like ‘Heroes’ is that romance is harder to do when you need to stop a moving train, so that gets sort of put on hold as they solve the issues at hand.” And that’s a bit of a bummer, since Rohm winningly brings out Jack Coleman’s cuddlier side. Kring concurs: “Because of the stuff Elisabeth played back in the [flashback episode "Once Upon a Time in Texas"], we decided to go farther into that and bring Lauren into the present.”

Episode 4×16 Pass/Fail – OFFICIAL Press Release

Hiro’s (Masi Oka) life hangs in the balance as his brain tumor worsens, prompting him to subconsciously deal with some of his past decisions. Meanwhile, Sylar (Zachary Quinto) pays Claire (Hayden Panettiere) an unexpected visit to get answers as to why he isn’t quite himself. Elsewhere, Samuel’s (Robert Knepper) plan to impress his long-lost love, Vanessa (guest star Kate Vernon), takes a terrifying turn. Jack Coleman, James Kyson Lee and Sendhil Ramamurthy) also star. everyone seems to be very pissed with that episode.

DDespite the final two mins with samuel falling to his knees and the ‘yup’ comment….nooo my online player has frozen…PLZ CLAIRE DONT DO IT!

alexx February 9, 2010 at 6:40 pm

no hiro is watching claire, freeze time bitch freeze time!

alexx February 9, 2010 at 6:48 pm

My main post:

I have a lot to say…a lot to read too, but to defent the anti-finale comments.

The finali had some stange lines in it yes. ‘i’m a hero’.

- The charlie plot line was dealt with sadly but perfectly…was it a different actress or was our one made to look old?

- ando plus hiro shock did make sence but couldn’t they have just teleported only samuel away.

- couldn’t hiro or sylar with tk have stopped claire?

I hate claire seriously, but that was a volume 6 clip. Volume 5: redemption was better than fugatives in my opinion but annoying at times. That was a good last ep with a few plot holes and bad lines of dialogue. Time to read gotchay’s debut.

F.D. February 9, 2010 at 6:57 pm

@alexx I found Peter vs Samuel pretty pathetic personally.

One simple pebble shot and either could’ve killed the other… but no, they had to show off bouncing pitiful tremors that could barely push them off-balance. All while shouting petty taunts involving their respective brother. I’ve seen girly fights at highschool that were more intense than that.

And the “I never liked carnivals / yup” moment with Samuel falling on his knees like a stringless puppet – totally DEVASTATED why? Because he couldn’t bury NY ? – was probably one of the most atrocious moment ever filmed for a tv show. Samuel’s fall was WAY too melodramatic to be credible, and Peter’s coldness was totally out of place. As a devoted paramedic Peter should’ve been running around tying to see if he could help anyone that got hurt or something. Instead he stood their, bold, botherline delighted. That is NOT Peter. There should be laws to punish such horrible writing.

F.D. February 9, 2010 at 7:02 pm

@alexx again: Sylar was apparently high after saving Emma. He seemed to approve of Claire’s move.

Hiro is retarded… there’s no way he could’ve stopped her.

Teleporting Samuel away would’ve been easier but Hiro had to touch him… the boosting part was WAY too predictable. “There are too many!” – “Hey, I can supercharge you!”. Again, a baboon with downs could’ve come up with this idea.

alexx February 9, 2010 at 7:09 pm

Responding comment:

@ sk. ‘Oh, I get it… Plot Convenience.’ to be fair we do not know how near the carnival may have been.

It was fun to watch and by no means was it good or unpredictable but i still enjoyed myself until the final claire scene.

I really should have read your own comments before my opinion.

Okay first things first. That episode wasn’t the best, but it was enjoyable in my opinion.

They fucked up on:

- Explaining that peter took sylar’s tk flying.
- Samuel being so weak that he couldn’t even lift a rock even though there were at least 3 specials still in the area….PLUS FKING ANDO THE HERO SHCOKCER!
- Wtf happened with eli and sylar fight.
- Emma doesnt care to see peter.
- Was peter even in this episode?
- Is that matt meant to be dark now?
- Claire had far too much screen time, everyone hates her.
- Tracy was…

okay i take it back, when there are THAT many things wrong it a finali it simply cannot be good. But xmen 3 wasnt gd however it was entertaining

YOU SPELLED OUT THE CLAIRE SCENE PERFECTLY so my thoughts are exactly the same. Still i DID prefer it to the volume 4 finali!

anyone else?? BETTER THAN VOLUME 4?

@ f.d

‘Tracy came in to save Noah and f*cking disappeared after a brief “You owe me one”? Really? ‘

Its time for my outburst and sk took the claire one.

WHAT THE FUCK WAS WITH THAT! WHY THE *********** DID ALI TARTER SURVIVE A FIRE AS NIKKI AND THEN A BULLET AS TRACY IF SHE IS GOING TO SPEND 5 OF HER 10 SECONDS OF SCREEN TIME AS A FFFFJUFKFKGFIGN PUDDLE!

BRYAN FULLER SAID HE WAS BRINGING HER BACK FOR A BIG STORY WHHHHATT THEE ********************************************************************************************************************************************************************

(I.am.annoyed).

So seriously this season had no tracy and no mohinder, little charlie plot line and predictable plots. The main villain became good and the other villain is gone.

Claire will be the largest photo on this seasons front cover for sure!!!!

I bet gotchay has taken the angry at peter powers comment, i’ll check that one out now.

sk74 February 9, 2010 at 7:15 pm

@ gotay
“Peter comes flying in how since he just had Matt’s power??”

Well spotted bro, I knew there was something wrong with that scene but couldn’t quite figure it at first. Don’t worry, I’m not gonna make excuses for anyone and say ‘it could be Sylar’s TK’… penmen fucked up, plain & simple. Put it down to PC (Plot Convenience).

Don’t want to rub anyone’s nose in it, but they missed YET ANOTHER opportunity to reload Pete: in Matt’s house, when he and Sy both said “It’s a long story”, as well as showing that they are ‘like-minded’/ ‘in each other’s heads’, etc., they could have implied that Pete EITHER has access to Sy’s powers via empathising with him over the course of 3hrs-going-on-5yrs, OR Pete has re-learned how to use empathy/ form an empathic connection like Sy can.

Sadly, I now have to agree with you: even if things like this ARE supposed to be little hints that Pete is ‘on his way back’, he’s taking too long… too little too late. I don’t want to watch another season of clues and hints… if they’re doing it deliberately, they’re taking the piss coz it’s looong overdue now. I’d rather have him NOT give any hints and stay gimped, instead of dangling that now-dried, stale and mouldy carrot and STILL staying gimped.

I will watch the next season but it has sure gone downhill.

So what do we know about claires brave new world?

@ f.d u summarised well enough how this show can be saved.

@ gotchay. You’re one of the ‘big 5′ or however many people around here really care about heroes and contribute frequently. You must be seriously annoyed and i will miss theorising with you but i can understand you anger after the ‘yup’ and claires actions. You will be missed…just like this show.

HRG stayed in character and he is the one guy who has since season 1. Sure he has slowly changed but the only problem circulating him is this…

THIS WAS MEANT TO BE A SEASON OF TRACY, A NEW COMPANY WITH CLIPS OF AN OLD ONE, A CHARLIE SEASON WITH HIRO’S ‘BEST PLOT LINE EVER’.

What did we get?

There is something worse sk then being kaitlined, and the entertaining but meaningless finali summed it up. WE.WERE.CLAIRED…i feel abused

talking of which if i were claire after her lil act i would have explained how there are many out there like ‘us’ some good, some bad, but ‘we’ can really help this world. there are healers and people who can build islands for this planet. We can source it through electricity! we can power and heal it together just dont turn on us when one bad guy like the one tonight comes along!

ratings were: 4.41 down from last seasons’s finali 6.4.

alexx February 9, 2010 at 7:19 pm

gn shows claire taking over nathan’s role and telling th world.

The thing is, cant a future badass hiro return in time…and volcano her?

T-Rock February 9, 2010 at 7:41 pm

I wish that I had the ability to teleport so that I could make sure that Kring and the “pen men” kiss my ass. This was by far one of the worse shows that I’ve ever seen. I don’t understand how gimpy Peter flew. If he got it from Sylar, when did he get it because last I remember, he had Matt’s ability.

The whole fight thing was horrible and I could have done without the Morphine High Sylar at the end of the episode. What’s next, more Claire… ohhh shit….that is not possible. Since there were so many plotholes, why didn’t we see Peter just freeze time without touching Hiro, or have Noah just take his gun out and f*cking shoot Claire in the back of the head.

NBC- Please kiss my ass also. You have insulted your fan base by not giving us what we want. We want and we need Heroes with balance of character development and closure of seeds that you planted.

Like I said in an earlier post, I went to school for English and Literature and this show has no continuity. Please take a look at Harry Potter in which JK Rowlin plants a seed in the first book and ties it up in the final. This is called storyline planning and execution. All stories start, progress, and end up in symmetry along each other and evidently the “pen men” went to the Walmart school of writing where the cheapest brand is the best way to go.

I think I am done with this show and the hint of Peter getting his powers back is not going to draw me this time. There have been many opportunities for the show to be saved but was ignored because of the writing staff having the ability to bang Hayden P.

F.D. February 9, 2010 at 8:13 pm

There is no hint of Peter getting his powers back. None.

Peter and Sylar were in Cali… we (again) have to GUESS that Peter copied his flying ability. Can you really picture Sylar carrying Peter in the air as he keeps his telepathy ability for some reason?

What pisses me off is that this is the kind of discussions we would NOT have if they took FIVE seconds to show us Pete touch Sylar, and both of them take off after leaving Matt.

About the wasted opportunity to repower Peter… yeah. They shared a dream for 3h/5years, their mind basically fusionned. If Peter cannot empathize with Sylar after spending 5years alone with him, in his head, then we pretty much should give up any chance to ever see it happen.

The only remaining way now would be Sylar returning Pete the favor after he helped him fix his killing addiction, by fixing his terrible ability and allow him to be a hero too. He HAS the power to do so, and he’s obviously thankful. But I grow tired of finding ways to make it happen, for something that should’ve happened months ago.

And I agree that we got promised a new company, flashbacks, character development, and Emma helping Peter reconnect. That was all dirt in the eyes. Writers basically gang-banged their viewers with empty promises and incompetent and/or lazy working.

F.D. February 9, 2010 at 8:16 pm

About Claire’s coming out. How do you guys bet that if there’s an S5, Samuel will be written out and nobody will even mention him?

Like journalists are too dumb to make a link between the tremors, the arrested guy, and the fact that there are “superhumans” out there?

I’m not even sure there will be a S5 and I’m already disappointed with it…

alexx February 9, 2010 at 8:43 pm

Ratings are dropping lower season by season, but now the typists and kring will sit down to plan the next season and possibly the last season. They will talk of how mohinder and tracy need bigger roles, they will talk of ending the show with peter getting his powers back which would just piss me off and they will say how brave new world which i think we should call BNW as it is gunna be talked about a lot, will be an eventful season.

If they are clever then they will release a sneak peek of peter getting all his powers back and becoming more powerful then ever.

gotay78 February 10, 2010 at 1:33 am

“I wish that I had the ability to teleport so that I could make sure that Kring and the “pen men” kiss my ass” @ T-Rock LMAO!!!! That was the best line of the day brother and I feel you 100%…..the fact they called Pete and empath since ep 1 when he and Edgar fought down to Lydia’s dream, it’s all been a subliminal smokescreen…it’s like when we watch, we’re all being Matt Parkman’d into a nightmare of the worst Heroe eps possible and can’t wake up. I mean, even the Soprano’s blackscreen finale pissed me off, but not to this extent…

To be honest, I don’t mind Sy being good as I feel he’s worn out his time as a villian and they could create one more diabolical such as Samson or whomever, but when he and Peter shared the same kind of power in that future, I thought it was cool the strongest were aligned and similar….you still had the villians come and attack them, Daphne with super-speed fighting Pete, Sy and Knox, that’s what makes the show damn it! Heroes/Villians going at it, having differnt but similar ideals where they have cross stories and development and this season had it in the beginning with Sam connecting to everyone, but then he totally forgot about Pete and maybe because he THOUHT he was an empath, because he’s no empath by definition so they need to drop that fucking lie and just say he’s a copier…that’s all he does and needs no connection or no bullshit like that…whomever’s idea it was to change it and give him this lame shit should be fired, sued and castrated because it was probably someone Hayden was screwing….the powerless Samuel shit made me say are you effin’ kidding me?? That’s when I got really burnt that I spent my time even watching the finale because it was a total slap in the face and just garbage…at first I thought he got his abilities back when he flew and then had Sam’s ability, only to figure he touched him when he flew at him…it’s just like they do it purposely because they didn’t show him touch him and then had Sam say, “oh, so you’ve “taken” my ability” like he was the old pete…they just love to tease us and create an illusion that it will happen…there’s no evolution at all to him with this copy shit…now if he could store/copy, that would be evolution…tracy evolved, Matt evolved, Sylar evolved, Claire even got a bit smarter and tougher, Ando’s evolved from supercharge to arc lightning…I mean is it not blatantly obvious how under used Peter has become and why? He’s what attracted so many in S1 at the height of the show with his empathic nature, but now it doesn’t matter…he gains nothing out of it but hollow words…

sk74 February 10, 2010 at 1:40 am

@ FD
“I doubt NBC will cancel the show. They got nothing else to put at prime time…”

How about a blank screen? Or that test card picture from the 1950s? BTW I’m serious!

Anything but Clairoes.

sk74 February 10, 2010 at 2:26 am

@ alexx
“There is something worse sk then being kaitlined, and the entertaining but meaningless finali summed it up. WE.WERE.CLAIRED…i feel abused”

I hear that bro…
Kaitlin’d = vanished without a trace
Claire’d = useless, annoying & always in ya face

Out of the two, I’d rather have the ‘absence makes the heart grow fonder’ option. Coz too much of anything [Claire-related] isn’t good.

sk74 February 10, 2010 at 3:02 am

I’ve just realised exactly how wack I thought this finale was… I’ve only watched it ONCE and haven’t felt the urge to re-watch again so far… That is HIGHLY unusual for me! I guess the ep wasn’t deep enough or well-written enuf for me to ‘over-analyse’.

Meanwhile, I am frantically trying to get to watch the latest ep of Lost… can’t find it anywhere yet :(

… oh yeah, sorry… we’re discussing Clairoes on here, aren’t we…? I mean Zeroes… sorry, I was thinking out loud about the ratings.

I meant to say Here-she-goes-(again)… ah, FORGET IT!

Guess I ain’t got much good to say about this show ATM, so I’ll shut up now (until my next post).

***WHERE IS LOST???***

Jaigo February 10, 2010 at 6:38 am

sk74,alexx.gotay78,T-Rock and F.D I’ve just watched the season finale of Claireroes, can one of you Haitian my mind of the whole season make sure you go as far back as the end of season 1. All I can say to you guys is it’s been fun but now I’m done the writers have MURDERED!!!! the show so I’m off to Poorville which at least had Doctor Fate, Stargirl, Sandman, Hawkman and Martian Manhunter in the last episode. This is the last time I’m posting in Zeroes. Thanks for the joke over all this time and stay blessed.

F.D. February 10, 2010 at 1:51 pm

Yeah the empathy allusions from Edgar, Samuel, Lydia and Angela were pretty much slaps in the face.

I mean, they COULD have made the season less painful overall if a massively glorious finale saved the day, but no, they had to keep it lame till the end.

Like the link alexx posted about Peter “Self Promo”. I would totally had made something like this happen this season. Peter DESERVED a glorious comeback, with tons of bells and whistles. Even the finale would’ve been too late IMO, but they didn’t even bother with making it happen there. If writers are too moronic to understand that better writing and better Peter would had brought ratings up, there’s not much we can do. But the longer they wait, the lower the amount of people who’ll bother to come back to watch this show will be. It’s a really simple equation. More Peter + More Powerful Peter + Better Writing = Happiness For Everyone.

But let’s even put Peter aside for a second. Would we even be that pissed at them if at least the rest of the show was perfect? If they had exciting and compelling writing?

Last finale’s writing wasn’t only atrocious because of the lame storyline. Even the details were dumbed down to the ground.

For example the obvious
- “Ando, there are too many of them…”
- “I… I could supercharge you!!!”

… like he just had made a huge scientific breakthrough and needed Hiro’s approval to stamp the patent. Couldn’t he at least self-condifently start to boost Hiro, who’d immediately understand what was going on and teleported them away? Because that’s what experienced team-workers do.

Why do writers have to explain us that Ando can boost Hiro while then can’t even show us actually meaningful information? Answer: they suck.

Take example with the Samuel/Eli/Peter/Sylar arch.
- Samuel: “[I don't know why I know this but ] There are some people who are going to try to stop us, I want you to deal with them.” [Samuel sends Eli against a presumed empath and the most powerful villain of the planet]
- Eli: “Okay. [I don't know who you're talking about nor where they are but who cares I'm gonna pop right next to them in the next scene anyway!]”
- Matt: “[Thanks guys for instantly identifying the prime and neutralizing him in 2seconds while I was getting gang-banged up there, but wait, ] What the hell is he doing here?”
- Peter: “Don’t worry, Sylar is cool. Let me get into that guy’s head to know what’s going on.” [Peter reads Eli's mind and then flies with Sylar to the carnival]

That.is.godawful.writing.

I could write down a better scenario in 5 minutes for free and I have no experience whatsoever in scripting.

F.D. February 10, 2010 at 2:25 pm

Also we’ve bitched writers a lot, but NBC has to take a blame as well.

I know it’s silly to say this on a spoilers site… but NBC has to STOP posting spoilery previews.

We knew Hiro would meet old Charlie.
We knew Claire would jump
We knew Doyle was forcing Emma
We knew Sylar would save Emma

We pretty much knew everything. The point of previews is to TEASE. Like the preview showing us Jeremy shooting. We didn’t know Peter would be hit. It could’ve been HRG, or it could’ve been no one. The finale’s preview showed exactly what was gonna happen, with no ambiguity whatsoever. That was retarded.

sk74 February 10, 2010 at 3:16 pm

@ FD
LMAO at the ‘Matt getting gang-banged’ comment!

But the idiocy runs EVEN DEEPER… Check this out…

Samuel SOMEHOW knew that there would be people coming to stop them… He SOMEHOW knew that it was Peter and Sylar joining forces AND he SOMEHOW knew where they were (coz he sent Eli there)…

But the very next ep, when Emma refers to Peter’s dream to Sam – which is the exact reason WHY P & S are coming to stop him – HE DOESN’T HAVE A CLUE WHAT SHE’S TALKING ABOUT!?!?!

I think Kring should be replaced by none other than Homer Simpson… at least Homer would have the sense to hire a decent writing team that can think coherently, or that can even just THINK… even if said writing team will be made up of chimpanzees. Then he could pay them peanuts (thus saving the budget) and they’d STILL appreciate it enuf to work their asses off (especially the baboon lol!) and come up with a good script.

alexx February 10, 2010 at 3:18 pm

treu, we have to see anything we can but we predicted every single thing that happened, no surprises what so ever.

How To Save Heroes Season 5

Episode 1- 3

Peter – The season starts with peter have lunch with his mom and during lunch she has a break down about how she misses Nathans boys and his wife never brings them around and how it’s funny that she sees more of Claire than them. He awakes saying I’ve got to find Claude.

Clair – after revealing herself to the world is taken by government to run tests on her. Finding out that her blood heals she is then store by the government and used for the army to heal soldiers. She will have little screen time and will not have her own story arc.

Until he learns that Claire is being keep against her will. Then he leaves the company to find a way to help her escape.

Angela – will work to form a new company with the help of Micah, Monica, hrg, and mo

Hiro – will disappear in the first episode and we will not hear from him until the middle of the season and he shows up as bad ass hiro. We do flash back episodes to show some of the trails on his journey to becoming bad ass hiro. He also sees peter and tells him in the future he as his powers back future sending peter on his search for Claude.

Samson Gray – at the end of the first episode Angela is seen calling Nathans wife the phone is busy. The seen cuts to a phone off the hook with her head dead on the ground frozen solid we also see a young boy with his head cut open next to her dead body. He goes on search for Claire so he can heal himself and live forever.

Alice appears and is the new company’s first task. They try to find a way to stop her from causing havoc every where she goes.

Luke will become bank robber and will also need to be taken down by new company.

Nathans other son – some how finds a way to escape Samson gray attacks but in doing so realizes he has the abilities to control animals and uses a flock of birds to escape Samson gray.

I will bring out what I would do with the rest of the season later but now I need to get back to work.

sk74 February 10, 2010 at 3:30 pm

@ FD again
“The finale’s preview showed exactly what was gonna happen, with no ambiguity whatsoever. ”

IMO bro, there was so little actual SUBSTANCE in that finale that there wasn’t much to show anyway. OK, they could have shown the part about Hiro getting the note and origami crane, but yeah they shouldn’t have released the pic of old Charlie.

Apart from that, there wasn’t much else that they could have released without giving the game away, coz there wasn’t anything much exciting going on. We would have been complaining about spoilers that are worse than useless otherwise (like the ’spoiler’ from Fugitives where Angela was talking to Claire about going to college… WTF was that about?)

No, we were right the first time… if they raise the quality of writing, they can then give us exciting spoilers without giving away too much of the even more exciting plot/ story.

It’s as if they showed us the salad that’s in the sub, but we bought it only to find out that there is no meat whatsoever… it’s merely a footlong sub full of salad, salad and more f*ckin salad.

F.D. February 10, 2010 at 4:09 pm

They could’ve shown the crane & memo.

They could’ve shown Samuel and Peter facing off, when they paused to taunt each other. We could only had guessed whether he took his ability or not.

Emma & Sylar: They should’ve sticked to the “I’m here to save you”. It was totally lame to show us Doyle’s involvement. Whether she played against her will or not was not something we had to learn before the episode. Yes we could FIGURE it, but previews are not about giving plot away, not matter how insipid the plot is.

Claire’s jump: It shouldn’t had been in the preview. Period. It’s the god damn vol.6 introduction.

Matt questioning Peter about Sylar was alright.

Previews are supposed to built up suspense, not kill whatever is left of interest for a show. Not giving away all the plot would certainly not had made the episode better, but when a preview basically wraps up everything that happens in an episode, the network is not doing a better job than writers.

F.D. February 10, 2010 at 4:13 pm

Addendum to Claire’s jump: I would have been fine with them showing it in the preview ONLY if in the same scene we saw Angela show up with Renée, looking at a devastated HRG saying “It had to be done.”

But I have my reasons for that.

sk74 February 10, 2010 at 5:13 pm

You know, with some of the ideas that most of us have posted on here for a long time, I’m sure that we could collectively write a better season of this show. Not saying for one moment that it would be an easy task, even if we could co-ordinate our efforts properly, but under ideal circumstances we would come up with something a WHOLE LOT better than what we’ve been fed lately (which has left a nauseatingly bitter taste for almost everyone).

@ FD
I suspect your addendum is based partly on the GN?

I kinda get why they had Claire jump when it seemed like she didn’t need to… The world WILL inevitably find out about Specials one day, they can’t keep covering it up forever. Either it would end up happening in a bad way (explosion of NY killing X-amount of people, Sylar killing a Senator, Samuel killing thousands) or a less-bad way (Claire jumping)… maybe if Claire didn’t have such a MAAAAAAJOR role all season in nearly every scene it might have had a greater impact. Personally, seeing as Pete was so underused, I would have had him do something instead… even if it was to fly or TK-float up there to get Claire down. The first-impression of him saving what appears to be a crazy-suicidal girl might have reassured people that yes, there are Specials out there, but they aren’t all bad, some are driven to use their abilities to HELP. As it is, Claire has probably freaked out half of the world with her stunt… you just KNOW there are some people doing a Gretchen (”What IS she, some kind of vampire, or alien?”).

If I saw her fall on TV, I’d be thinking “what if there are people like her (that can’t die/ are hard to kill) that are actually evil? What can a human like ME do against THAT?” Straight away, there would be trust issues.

If there is another season, I seriously hope the penmen do the right thing and have her captured and lab-ratted. While she’s in there, dye her hair a darker colour… you can see where I’m heading with all this… We already have a ‘good’ Sylar (again) and he and Pete are real ‘pals’ now – almost like ‘brothers’.

F.D. February 16, 2010 at 1:53 pm

Nice the site is finally back… hopefully I’m not the only one who comes back posting here. :)

@sk74 my addendum didn’t have anything to do with the GN. It was wishful thinking: Angela showing up with the Haitian to make sure Claire stays dead to kill her stunt. Meaning next season we would have no Claire, and a berserk HRG.

Kerry452 February 16, 2010 at 8:57 pm

i still dont get the matt-eli-hrg bit where matt tell eli “heres what your going to do”, did he tell him to be good and surcumb (no idea how to spell that) to hrg wishes ? and how did he det to the carnival so quickly.

hmm speaking of getting to the carnival so quickly, i can except sylar/peter flying but did you see how far peter threw samuel out of the backstage area ? me and my mum were screaming that he had his full abiltys back especially with samuel saying “i see youve found your power” peter”funny how that works” until we rewatched them scenes again to find that samuel was actually saying “i see you found my power” urgh let down let down let down. grrrrrrrrrrrrr

also did anyone read that tim kring interview about his decision to keep characters depowered?…uh i feel sick.

-k-

alexx February 17, 2010 at 11:14 am

@ F.d ya i know, last time it went down a few people like karin never returned.

I wasn’t sure what was up but it’s gd to know that the forum is finally back.

Is there any news on season 5 guys? Any at all?

The irritating thing is that now that hiro is back in business, finally after 2 seasons he is no longer messed up mentally or abilitialy, he can timetravel back and do a futurepeter if you understand me.

So when ‘the camps’ that always seem to start up come along..if they come along because it only takes one sylar, then hiro just needs to teleport back.

It would be interesting if season 5 is a merge of 5YG (explosion fuutre), pinehurst future (sylar and baby noah with sides being formed).

We would have claire hunting down the bad ones and she may for once have an interessting plot line…joking! Sylar will be the guy we loved in that future with baby noah.

Peter…

season 1: all the characters had a very important role.
season 2: all the characters.
season 3: mainly sylar imo
season4: claire.
season 5: peter.

Season 5 must be peter’s season with as little claire as possible. We have seen all the characters, such as sylar and hiro rise to their best, claire and literally hit the ground with me LOL…if you understand my bad joke that is, and peter….

peter is underdeveloped and he is the best character. So season5 really must be his season, he must get his powers back even if overtime and he must rise to…whatever comes.

sylar with take off and live with baby noah.
claire, renee and maybe matt (remember 5yg) will hunt the specials…mohinder will become important in that too.

Hiro and peter will become the badass guys from season 1.

sorry am i getting everyone’s hopes up by laying down an actual story?
PLEASE WRITERS READ THIS! I promise that i wont sue…lol

BJO February 17, 2010 at 12:14 pm

Ladies and gentlemen, I give you a catharthic and therapeutic scene where
Hitler gives his take on Heroes’ situation:

Hitler Reacts to Heroes:

F.D. February 17, 2010 at 1:53 pm

OMG BJO did you do the edit?

That was so damn awesome, I hope T.K. watches it.

I’m so linking this video everywhere I can.

I’ll laugh hard if my patented “Clairoes” term gets around. :)

F.D. February 17, 2010 at 2:33 pm

@Kerry452 how Eli got there so fast is part of the numerous non-elucidated plot holes of this finale.

I’m willing to bet we’re supposed to believe he spawned a clone there. Heck, et can even believe Matt was controlling the clone from a distance by controlling the prime…

@alexx no confirmation so far about S5, but apparently there are good chances because they currently have nothing better to air in at this time…

And I agree that any script not featuring full-powered Peter early in the season should thrown in a fire, and the writer should be shot.

But like numerous observer said… even that would be too little to late. The millions of viewers Kring alienated will never come back. This show is stuck at 4-5M max and can only get lower.

alexx February 17, 2010 at 3:48 pm

@ BJO.

I am gunna be harsh on that to begin with:

- I did find that many of the sentences were too long at times, and parts like the tracy and mohinder being written out bits…they were perfect as they went with that tone of voice.

Please work on it to make it to it’s best, also i would retitle it, Hitler reacts to Brave new world but it is your choice. He could have mentioned claired ridicuous ending too.

Despite my criticisms it was still gd! Thanks for using the heroestelevision group terms lol caitlined…clairoes….

@ F.d

Remember your favourite heroes moments, not all of the cast has been killed off yet.

If they choose to, we can see a badass hiro, it certainly wouldn’t cost them anything. Super peter is a different matter, but imo, all the budget should go on him, none of the other powers other than his and sylars cost anything.

To get this show back to 14 million, would take a massive budget with new writers.

I am no writer and yet i can put together a perfect season 5 plotline from the ideas we have all expressed above.

Season 5:

After the dramatic turn of events, Peter decides to return to helping people as a paramedic. Only this time, because of claire’s actions, everyone knows that he is a special and he suffers much abuse. He is attacked by some danko’s but luckily he had taken claire’s power and he survives BUT WITH A SCAR, determined to be powerful like he once was. He is encouraged by his latest patient, a man dying of cancer called Sampson.

Sampson sees Claire visiting Peter in the hospital and takes her power though he doesn’t head slike her, he just understands what she is going through. Once he is healed, he thinks to hell with it and tries to kill her only to be saved by peter. Sampson escapes and claire goes to visit sylar who gets her pregnant.
Claire becomes cold and for the rest of the season is only mentioned to be hunting down the villains but never seen.

Mohinder is being pressuriesed into finding a cure but of course there isn’t one. The government then decided to move against the specials after a massive riot, led by hrg they hunt them down 5YG style.

Many are classed as dangerous and they come for hiro who frees all of the imprisoned thus becoming the 5YG terrorist that he was seen to be.

Eventually sides are formed.

Ando, claire, hrg, tracy, matt and mohinder work for pinehurst that has become the new company…jsut like in that other future.

Badass hiro and badass em peter are on the other side.

Sylar tries to live a normal life but ends up fighting with peter who he now calls his brother. Therefore when claire has the baby and gives it to sylar…claire names it noah, baby noah knows peter as his uncle.

While this fight between pinehust and primatech ( the above guys in their fight)
sampson is going around killing preparing for his season 6 big plot line.
At the end of the season claire is killed and…for my own sake, peter goes and tries to save kaitlin.

NOW THAT WOULD BE PERFECT FOR ME, i am not saying that that is it, but come on how great would that season be.

I am confident that a big season like that with heroes vs villains, and the future’s which we have seen aspects to this…it would be fantastic!

alexx February 17, 2010 at 3:49 pm

I just got my hopes up.

alexx February 17, 2010 at 4:12 pm

Also did anyone realise that claires catch phase’attempt number….’ got bad after that train attempt…now it’s just an annoying repetitive plot device.

gotay78 February 17, 2010 at 5:25 pm

Just came on to give my weekly FUCK THIS SHOW rant as I have NO HOPES for this show and neither should any of you….the fact I read Kring wrote the finale ALL BY HIMSELF and then had the nerve to try and defend it while he said the other writers are just basically handed a blank page and says “you work on ep 16, you work on 17 and I’ll do the finale” is so effin’ dumb it’s beyond belief….how the eff can you have any unison in storylines like that and does he even proofread what they write or is he so high on coke he doesn’t even know what happened one ep to the next?? The fact Kring wrote the finale says it all….I knew there’s no way writers could just be ruining this show without him being the sole one responsible….that’s right, it’s none other than Kring who destroyed HEROES so I guess he wanted the credit as the creator and the destroyer….well congrats Kring, you have both titles now so you can take your billions and keep pretending you don’t have special effects money….I hope you never are allowed to produce another show again…..you suck! You took all of the X-MEN ideas and tried to incorporate them except comics actually have substance, something you seem to know nothing about…seems you were on track to write Melrose Place: The new Beginning and someone accidentally brought this to your attention and you decided to run with it….I won’t be sad at all if I never see another episode, honestly! You’ve already destroyed the main character and made him the worst on the show…might as well just make him a nurse and put him on Grey’s Anatomy.

F.D. February 17, 2010 at 6:54 pm

@alexx: you can’t buy viewers with massive budget once you killed a franchise with terribad writing. Even if they made S5 BETTER than S1, ratings would remain low. At very best, Heroes would gain grounds in DVR/torrent.

About specials being outed: this is excessively overrated. It’s not written on anyone’s face “Hi, I can blow fire from my nose”. Abilities are imperceptible, unless used in public. Claire’s outing didn’t miraculously expose everyone, it just exposed her “FRETONDE” self.

@gotay did you watch that vid posted by BJO? That 4minutes video contains more entertainment than Heroes last 6 episodes combined.

alexx February 17, 2010 at 7:24 pm

@ F.D, to quote matt when someone said ’so what, is that person’s power any stranger than being able to read minds’

He said ‘yeah it is’. He is also right. Just because claire has exposed herself doesn’t necessarily mean that timetravellers are believed as well now…just something to bare in mind.

@ Gotchay, Tim Kring created this show. It had a perfect season, a season that in spite of it’s short length was very good, and a third season that was ruined by many different aspects, you have heard this all before from me. In trying to workout as sk said ‘where did it all go wrong’.

They lost viewers after the depowerments, and now they dont have th budget to bring back peter as we knew him. To renew the season 1 feel with 14 million viewers would take a massive budget.

If this show was taken on and given a multi-million budget like a film would, they could have awesome fight scenes, the acting is good too, and they wouldn’t have to fall to having claire to attract the perverts.

The show really needs good writing, but being heroes and all, it needs a budget, and with it’s falling ratings it will not get that.

Now if it were me, the best way to save the show (without budget).

- Fuck claire…as in push her out the show, don’t kill her, just write her out.
- Bring in someone famous such as angelina jolie for a few eps.
- Bring back claude, molly, micah etc.
- Badass hiro and full power peter.

That could actually save the show and get ratings up to…7m?

Let’s face it, how many jolie fans and season 1 fans would run to see it. They would love the high budget scenes, the fans would love jolie, they would stick around.

Of course that wont happen, in fact i would reckon that getting jolie on board would take ratings from 4-6 instantaniously.

F.D. February 17, 2010 at 7:49 pm

They lost viewers after the depowerments, and now they dont have th budget to bring back peter as we knew him. To renew the season 1 feel with 14 million viewers would take a massive budget.

This is not a budget limitation. Kring himself admitted Peter was simply too powerful and they needed to make him dumb because he was so strong he could basically fix any situation. And it was only getting worst as he was put in contact with more specials over seasons.

I believe what they need to do is to put things in the following context: if there is a season5, it will most likely be the last season. With this in mind, who cares of Peter has his full EM again?

Just somehow limit who he comes in contact with, and/or put emphasis on the fact that he never masters abilities he EMs right off the bat. They could make him have a “rank 1″ version of abilities he copies, like only being able to read minds, only being able to freeze touch, only being able to teleport (not time travel), etc. Make it OBVIOUS by having him outright say “I can only use a limited portion of abilities I EM, unless I train them.” That would at LEAST turn him into a jack-of-all-trades-master-of-none. And most important of all, we’d watch him knowing he has the potential to grow very strong if he really puts efforts into it.

gotay78 February 17, 2010 at 7:55 pm

@alexx, Kring didn’t give us a great season 1, it’s just his name on the credits….it was whomever was employed at that time and sad enough, whomever was writing during the strike did 100x better a job than whomever was responsible for S3/V2 and S4….both were pretty lame and they were numbing down the effects since last volume with fucking Claire’s stupid @ss eye….worse, think about the last ep of S3/V2! This bitch is the one when she gets zapped knowing she’s indestructible as Knox said in that other future, telling Peter/Nathan “Well, go get him!” and doesn’t even have a LITTLE BIT of grief over it since it was her final words to him?? Didn’t see her shed a tear at her father’s death, but was crying in a hotel room with him half drunk when they had their empathic moment in S3/V2 in Mexico?? Whatever…I mean the shoddy writing goes way beyond fixing and at this point, they’ve messed up so much they can’t fix it….which is why in a season and a half, they STILL can’t explain how Peter’s new pathetic ability works….no one effin’ knows not even Milo or Kring himself…..I guess Hayden wrote that one after coming up for air under the desk…if you don’t have the budget, sell the effin’ script and rights to someone who really wants to invest in the show because guaranteed someone else will make us say “Thank God for that”…..

gotay78 February 17, 2010 at 8:04 pm

“This is not a budget limitation. Kring himself admitted Peter was simply too powerful and they needed to make him dumb because he was so strong he could basically fix any situation. And it was only getting worst as he was put in contact with more specials over seasons.”

@F.D. and that alone is why the show has tanked….that’s bullshit 100%!! If you’ve ever read a comic, is there ANY character beyond reproach or being in some kind of situation where they never struggled?? I could take JEan Grey, Professor X, Magneto, Wolverine, the Hulk or any of the strongest mutants who seem unstoppable and they all went through getting theirs at some time….if it were the case, FP would’ve never died so how did they kill him if he’s unstoppable?? That would be TEAMWORK and the use of abilities at different times…What they should’ve done as we’ve said many times was change the way he takes them as he does now and store them…so what makes Sylar any different?? Oh, I get it…they’re trying to slowly neuter Sylar as well and make him Pete’s substitute and blah, blah blah…..the show is for the birds and I will continue to tell everyone I know to not watch it and waste their time….I may actually just let my friends keep the DVDs I lent them as I don’t even want them back….they will watch and say in S3 and so on, WTF happened to the show and EVERYONE I know that used to get up to watch it, doesn’t care about it anymore and just puts it on to have something to watch….Kring took all the steam out of this show and makes up excuses of course to defend himself….use your next script Kring to wipe your ass with it since it will all be shit anyways! Good riddance……….

F.D. February 17, 2010 at 8:56 pm

Well yeah writers simply didn’t have the brain to imagine challenging enough obstacles to a superpowered Peter. But strangely enough they’re fine with Sylar taking over where Peter was ?

Samson himself mocked Sylar for preying on the weak, saying he’d take any challenge any day if he had his “old days” health and powers.

The thing with Peter’s depowering is that I would’ve bought it as a (needed, IMO) power reset. It would’ve been fine to make him start over, if only at the end of vol. 3 with his injection. But the BS ability the gave him, along with the decisions he made literally killed this character and made him just plain frustrating to watch.

I’ve discussed this matter before by comparing Peter to Dr. House. There’s no way anyone would’ve let writers turn House into a empathetic, phylanthropist “Patch Adams” who cares about everyone and doesn’t take pleasure into pissing people off for more than one or two episodes (as a funny change of pace). Why? Because viewers watch House for WHAT HE IS, for WHAT MAKES HIM ENTERTAINING.

I think it’s obvious Kring stubbornly denies that Peter is Heroes’ main protagonist. He acts like he thinks fans are wrong, and will “understand” by fading him out and putting other boring characters on the front. This is simply disheartening. His interview showed that the show isn’t going where he wanted in the first place. Remember what he wanted to do is reset the cast every season…So his work shows that he’s pissed off at whoever “forced” him to keep S1 characters around.

F.D. February 17, 2010 at 9:05 pm

I mean, it was also fine to weaken Superman with kryptonite for a short while. But would anyone give a damn about him if they made 2 entire movies about how he tries to be a hero without… you know… BEING Superman?

BJO February 17, 2010 at 10:06 pm

@alexx
Thank you very much for your thoughtful criticism. I actually agree with your suggestions; however, I made the video, not to be fastidious and pedantic, but to make myself feel better about all I thought was ill with heroes. Of course, I cannot possibly do that in 4 minutes, not even you or anyone in this intelligent forum could pull that off. I have read your posts, and boy, are they wordy and insightful? Consequently, some things will be omitted. If you have a better script—and time—you can post it. I’ll gladly make another video(along with your name) and upload it, or better yet, send it to you.

@FD
I apologize for not asking for your permission to use CLAIROES. It is tasking to trace the first usage of a portmanteau, especially online.

alexx February 18, 2010 at 12:02 am

@ BJO thanks for all of the compliments, your thing was great but if it was a lil shorter lines imo it would be funnier. Besides it achieves it’s main point, to explain how we all here feel the show has gone wrong.

@ f.d sylar and peter should have neutralisez and contrlled eachother.

Character’s who at their best are too powerful:

- Claire: lets fact it, a nuclear missile wouldn’t kill her and therefore she is a constant threat.
- Hiro: space time continuam destroyed.
- Matt: he could take over the leaders of the un.
ando: he could along with another character shock them and destroy the world.
- samuel: states the obvious.

and that’s just some of it. Think of all of the too-powerful-characters, they can however be controlled, look at prof x who in xmen 2 could kill every human on the planet if he so chose to. He was kept in check by being a gd guy. Jean grey was stopped wasn’t she?

So i believe that em could be kept undercontrol, as gotchay put it, look at sylar.

F.D. February 18, 2010 at 1:46 pm

@BJO I wasn’t actually expecting you to quote me in your video or anything. :) Again, pretty nice work.

@alexx the problem with powerful Peter is not about making him a threat for the world, but making him so godly that any villain coming at him seems trivial.

Just take a look at this Samuel encounter. Peter had a HORRIBLE ability and used it to copy ONE ability: Samuel’s. If still had all his previous abilities, he could’ve EM’d Terrakinesis to contain Samuel WHILE mind controling/shocking/nuking/TKing him.

About Peter and Sylar: here’s an alternate ending for this finale:
Doyle: But you’re like me!
Sylar: Nope
*Sylar shapeshifts into Peter*
Peter: I think the guy you’re looking for is fighting Samuel right now.
Emma: Peter?

Samuel: So you got my ability?
‘Peter’: Funny how that works heh?
*Sylar summons a dust whirlwind as payback to Samuel, decimating him*

Sylar: So, Peter, you managed to save your friend after all. How do you enjoy your new abilities?
Peter: I like it! How that withdrawal?
Sylar: It was necessery. It sucks but I’ll get used to it.
*Sylar copies Peter’s shapeshifting and take his ZQ face again*
Peter & Sylar: Wait, WTF is Claire doing?

F.D. February 18, 2010 at 1:47 pm

If you didn’t get it, the alternate ending’s shocker is Sylar and Peter switching body when getting out of Sylar’s dream; the perfect solution for each other’s problem. :)

alexx February 18, 2010 at 7:04 pm

That F.d is a great idea.

You wind up with a powerful peter, and a powerless or one powered sylar. Of course that is just too gd for the writers.

Heroes has really faded, and I too feel that I am just watching the next season out of habit and hope. Even if he gets his powers back next ep immediatly, guess what, i no longer care. If Peter and hiro become how we want them to be, and we finally see some abilities on the show…i will be interested, but only that. I have really lost my faith in the show, if only they cut claire out.

Would you rather have an em peter on claiiroes or the peter we have now without claire. Now that is a hard one.

F.D. February 18, 2010 at 7:51 pm

What I’ve read is that Hayden would have signed for another show, but Heroes producers refused to let her go.

It’s amusing to consider she could be stuck with Heroes almost against her will… and certainly against the VIEWERS will.

But if you ask me, they should’ve ended the S5 preview with Claire falling. This way it could’ve given people hope that the scene after, René shows up with Angela (who dreamed of what happens if Claire survives) and made sure Claire stays dead. It would’ve given producers the opportunity to let Hayden only be featured as a minor appearance… now they basically told us “Meet S5’s main character.”

I mean, imagine the shocker. HRG going totally insane, torn between the fact that he knows Angela was right and his love for Claire. HRG could’ve had an entire plotline dedicated to convince and/or blackmail Hiro or Peter to intervene in the past.

At the very least, they could’ve disabled her ability temporarily for the media and revived her a couple episodes later… but I guess they really wanted Vol.6 to be about people knowing there are specials out there.
